The Wanderers: Contemporary Painting from Cluj, at Richard Taittinger Gallery, curated by leading Romanian art historian, Maria Rus Bojan, is a multigenerational show on a group of Transylvanian painters that have worked to avoid redaction, in favor of nostalgia and irony as it relates to memory and a sense of place. The show tracks a shared dialogue between masters and students, the outcome of which helps define certain traditions. Traditions, that has within the last decade, projected the painters of Cluj-Napoca, into the limelight, astounding the international art world.
